You can stop sneezing eliminating pet dander from your home. If you suffer from allergies – and even if you don’t – your home could be the trigger that sees you to sneezing all night long! Pet dander, dust mites, molds and other allergens can all build up if you don’t ensure a proper cleaning routine – but don’t worry, we are here to help talk you through it!
Cleaning
Weekly cleaning schedules can be set up that will help you to combat all of these allergens in the home. While the majority of you will already have such a routine – are you completely sure that it does the trick? For example, when was the last time you cleaned your carpets, curtains or couches? When was the last time you washed your pet’s bedding? Or worse, does your pet sleep with you? All of these things contribute to an unhealthy atmosphere in your home environs that can trigger those sneezes and sniffles!
For the best results you should not only clean often and thoroughly, but also consider replacing those worst offenders. Aging carpet is much healthier if you replace it with a wipe clean hard flooring option which is much less likely to home those dust mites and allergens.
HVAC
Unbeknownst to many, the HVAC is the single thing in your home most likely to kill you with its germs. It only takes a little standing water from a busted HVAC to spread Legionnaires disease all throughout your house, so if you are going to keep on top of one item – make it the HVAC.
Professionally clean your HVAC system and air ducts. Regularly replace air filters to keep the pet dander, dust mites, mold and allergens out of your home HVAC system for good. Dust Mites can get trapped in there and be re-circulated around your house, so giving them a wash and adding some air purification can go a long way to a healthier home.
Air Purifiers
HEPA Air purifiers can be purchased that will help to up the air quality of your home (we recommend Austin Air and Iqair as brands of distinction) but there isn’t any point if you don’t keep up that cleaning routine! These filters will extract some of those allergens from the air and leave you to breathe that little bit better, improving your overall health!
Vacuuming
A good way to deal with pet dander and allergies such as mold or dust mites is by vacuuming regularly. Normal vacuums are fine, but of course we recommend you buy a brand specialized to deal with those allergens. Again, HEPA filter vacuuming is the way forward and we love the Miele brand, particularly their pet hair focused machines.
So, remember – good housekeeping can lead to good health, especially for those with asthma or allergens that can affect their ability to breathe. Invest in some healthy filtering products and keep up that cleaning schedule for best results. Air purity can be improved with only a little regular maintenance, so don’t let you and your family suffer in silence!
Of course, if all else fails you can always call us in for that professional touch!
